Get Moving

Movement helps to smooth the flow of Qi energy in the body, which is why most people feel good after moderate exercise. It doesn’t need to be anything intense to get your energy moving; yoga, Tai Chi, Qi Gong and walking are some examples of exercise that most people can easily tolerate well. After a stagnant winter you’ll feel the difference of increased movement in your life, and you’ll benefit from it.

Think on new things

What new things would you like to cultivate in your life? This is the time to bring action to projects you’ve been thinking about. It’s also the time to let go of resentments and move forward. It’s a great time to start or deepen a meditation practice or start a Tai Chi or Qi Gong class to help clear the mind and focus. Saying that, to help you along this spring we're offing free beginner Qi Gong (a form of movement based meditation) if you'd like to learn. Just give us a call or sign up on the site. Whatever you do, incorporate some playfulness and fun into the process and enjoy.

Re-evaluate your eating habits

Spring is a great time to effect change. Start with taking inventory of your diet and become aware of the foods you eat. It’s usually easier in the spring to cut back on (or eliminate) some of the heavier fried and fatty foods. It’s also a great time to evaluate (and probably cut back on) your salt and sugar intakes. Cutting back even by a small amount will have tremendous benefits, like lowering your blood pressure, increasing your energy levels, and slimming down your waist line a little.

Eat the newly growing good stuff

Spring is green. It’s the time of life and re-growth for both people and nature. Edible green plants that grow at this time are not only excellent sources of nutrition, but also help balance the body's systems after coming out of winter. Try to eat something green with every meal, such as peas, lettuce, spinach, chard, kale, dandelion greens, celery, etc… We are what we eat, and this is the time of the year to make the change to a healthier lifestyle leading to less pain, less stress, and more positive energy.

Enjoy your spring, be healthy, be happy. We're always here if you need us.
